The Artis Trade Systems Story

In 2016, FSW Trade began exploring the Supply Chain Financing (SCF) / Reverse Factoring (RF) space. Robyn Barrett, Managing Member of FSW Trade, envisioned SCF as an innovative revenue stream source as well as an excellent means of bolstering and diversifying her lending portfolio. Eager to launch her SCF Fund, Robyn embarked upon a two-year journey exploring extant software tools and platforms available to her.

However, it became glaringly apparent that the then current SaaS offerings did not adequately understand nor comprehensively address her needs. The available technologies targeted large lending institutions, not owner-operator and small-medium lenders.

Furthermore, these products were crippling with expensive installation costs, extensive fees, and protracted contractual agreements obligating lenders to multiple-year relationships with these ill-matched software providers.

Frustrated with the lack of options as well as the rigidity of the options available, Robyn decided that to get the right SCF platform, she was going to have to design it herself. To do so, she teamed-up with Jamie Clemons. Jamie, equipped with an extensive background in finance, operations, and the implementation of advanced technologies in the lending space, worked with Robyn to build an intuitive SCF platform created by lenders for lenders.

Pulling from her 20 years of experience as a successful funder, Robyn guided the design and functionality of the platform we call ArtisPay.

Robyn Barrett

/ FOUNDER

Robyn Barrett is the managing member of Factors Southwest, LLC, (dba FSW Funding) an independently owned and operated factoring firm. She helps small to mid-sized business-to-business companies secure funding that may not otherwise be available. By giving them access to the capital needed to grow, FSW Funding is helping shape the business community. With a knack for numbers, Robyn took her grandfather’s old adage, “the two things people cannot avoid are dying and paying taxes,” to heart and chose a career in accounting.

Earning a bachelor’s degree from Arizona State University and a CPA license, she embarked on what has been a 20-year journey through the world of finance. Robyn began her career in accounting at Restaura, Inc. in Phoenix, a food contract management company and subsidiary of the Greyhound Corporation, where she was responsible for monthly close and analysis as well as external reporting of payroll information. Three years later, she left the company to take on larger-scale accounting pursuits at The Dial Corporation, the first of two Arizona-based public companies in her portfolio.

While at The Dial Corporation, Robyn served in an array of accounting and management functions. From preparing and analyzing budgets for the company’s two chief products – Dial Bar Soap and Liquid Dial Soap – to working with the organization’s marketing and advertising executives on increasing gross margin, identifying the efficient allocation of marketing dollars and implementing new financial analysis software, she was instrumental in the company’s growth.

After six years at The Dial Corporation, Robyn ventured into the world of corporate finance at FINOVA Capital Corporation, a Phoenix-based publicly traded commercial lender. It was at FINOVA that Robyn was first exposed to the struggles many small and mid-sized companies experience when trying to secure funding. Over the course of five years, her talents for financial budgeting and forecasting, marketing analysis, customer relations, business development, and financial negotiations were recognized with a series of promotions and awards. During her tenure at FINOVA, Robyn held numerous positions including senior finance manager, senior marketing analyst, senior credit underwriter and vice president of marketing. After leaving FINOVA in 2000, she went on to serve as vice president of marketing and business development at ZoomLot Corporation before taking her destiny into her own hands.

Robyn founded Arizona-based Factors Southwest, LLC in 2001. In 2011, Factors Southwest, LLC began operating as FSW Funding to reflect the company’s expansion nationally. With more than a decade of experience in factoring and commercial finance, she has the knowledge and know-how to help small businesses secure financing and be poised for success.

In addition to her bachelor’s, Robyn holds a master’s degree in business administration from Grand Canyon University and is an active member of numerous industry organizations including: American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA); Arizona Society of Certified Public Accountants (ASCPA); Turnaround Management Association (TMA); Risk Management Association (RMA); International Factoring Association; Commercial Finance Association, and the Association for Corporate Growth. She is also a member of the Greater Phoenix, Scottsdale and Tucson Chambers of Commerce.

Robyn is also involved in educating up and coming entrepreneurs and can frequently be found as a speaker at organization and association events, including the Small Business Association and ASU’s entrepreneurship programs.
